Silver Aurora Award Winner

A custom home built by Aubuchon Homes along the river in Cape Coral is a 2022 Silver Aurora Award Winner and a Grand Aurora Award Finalist.

The private residence is a five-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bath open concept ultra-modern design.  Situated on a riverfront lot on the southwest Gulf Coast of Florida, the design of the home takes full advantage of unobstructed waterfront views.

A wall of sliding glass doors floods the main living space with light reflecting on the high-gloss white porcelain tile floors.  In the kitchen, a window wall backsplash overlooks lush green eureka palms.  The kitchen feels light, open, and airy with a two-tone combination of clean white and warm walnut cabinetry.  The same walnut finish anchors the entertainment wall opposite the kitchen.  A splash of emerald green quartzite surrounds the wall’s three-sided linear gas fireplace.

This gorgeous space transitions seamlessly to the outdoors. More than 1,000 square feet is dedicated to outdoor living on the first floor.  This includes a space for cooking, dining, and entertaining around the negative edge pool with an integrated spa and sun shelf.  The second-floor balconies at the front and rear of the home add another 780 square feet of outdoor living space.

As a bridge between indoors and outdoors, floor-to-ceiling windows introduce light and add a contemporary touch to the front of the home.  They also present a privacy issue.  In keeping with the minimalist feel of the home, the owners opted for PGT windows with a white inner layer in the bathrooms.  The solution allows light to flood these rooms while also providing much-needed privacy.

The Aurora Awards include builders from the Carolinas to Texas. Grand Aurora winners will be announced at the Aurora Awards Gala in August in conjunction with the Southeast Building Conference.
